WAFU Nations Cup final: How Eagles crashed 4-1 to Ghana

Nigeria’s home-based Eagles Sunday, suffered a 4-1 humiliating loss to Ghana in the final match of the 2017 WAFU Nations Cup.

The hosts defeated bitter rivals Nigeria with 4-1 on Sunday at the Cape Coast Stadium.

The Black Stars took the lead in the 44th minute of play, with Sarfo Kwadwo punishing slack defending from the Super Eagles to make it 1-0.
Vincent Atingah doubled their lead from the penalty spot.
Another spot-kick was awarded to Ghana and Stephen Sarfo converted it to make it 3-0.
Atingah was sent off late in the game, but it did nothing to change the final outcome, as the Ghanaians added one more goal in injury time.

A stunning free-kick from Rabiu Ali was merely a consolation for Salisu Yusuf’s men.
Nigeria had defeated the Black Stars 2-0, when they met during the group stages of the tournament.
