Customers of one of Nigeria’s tourism and traveling agencies, VIP Express have raised the alarm over alleged unfair treatment by the company they had engaged for their travelling and logistics arrangements since the past 5 years.
The customers in a statement issued under the umbrella of Concerned Customers(CC) and made available to newsmen in Abuja have alleged that the tourism firm had swindled them of their hard earned money, even after being under them for 5 years.
A statement signed by one Mr Ibrahim alleged that majority of them who had contracted the company to handle their overseas’ trips and other logistics never got any viable service from the tourism firm until the expiration of the said contract. They alleged that when they approached the company for a refund of their money, they were told that the terms in the contract do not allow for refunds.
The statement particularly frowned at the attitude of its General Manager, Samuel Owoseni, whom they claimed was a fellow Nigerians working against the interest of other Nigerians.
‘’It’s very unfortunate that after we were tricked by their General Manager, Mr Samuel Owoseni in the series of lectures we had with them, and we signed the contract, the same Manager has now turned around to say because we did not travel within 5 years, we will no longer be entitled to a refund, and they cannot also fund our trip even if we embark on one now. So the question is what did we pay for? How can you pay for a service that was never rendered? Why can’t they refund? Why can’t they fund another trip? Has VIP Express management mistaken us for some shareholders?
‘’This is an injustice that must be addressed urgently. Recently, we took our protest to the company’s office in Abuja, and we were told they have shut down their offices as no single staff of the organization was seen.
‘’We have only one option left. In a couple of days, we shall march to the Consumers Protection Council, CPC to present our petition. We understand some other groups had submitted to them. We will be there to add our petition to what they already have,’’ they threatened.
‘’As Nigerians, we deserve fair treatment and we will stop at nothing to get our money back or have them fund our trips,’’ they lamented.
‘’We are by this medium calling on the CPC, the EFCC and other related agencies to clamp down on the company and its agents in the country for justice to be served.’’
Meanwhile, when this reporter visited the office of the organization in Wuse 2, no staff was found to explain the situation.
