Lady narrates how she was saved after falling victim to ‘One Chance Operators
A Nigerian lady, Annabel Fred, took to social media to recount her ordeal in the hands of ‘One Chance’ operators.
Here’s what she wrote on Facebook;
“Sorry to bother you friends!! But I had to use a friend’s phone to share this!!! Yesterday I and my friend went to the shoprite to get somethings, when we finished, we came out and ordered for uber’ ( it showed 10mins to arrive) so we waited for the uber arrival”’ finally a taxi(Acura MDX)stopped in front of us ‘ then I asked if he was the uber we ordered? Yes I am ma’ he said! Then we both entered and i asked him to start the trip: he then said ok and drive off, he drove for sometime then slowed down’ when we asked y the slow down, this car is having issues ma; let me check :
He said( pls my money is reading o I told him) sorry ma we not on surg, he replied,I then said ok o,As he stopped, another guy quickly entered the car then the driver doomed off immediately– sharply i even tried to open the door and run ; but all to no avail then i realised we were in big troubled ::: my friend started shouting and crying- then one of guys came to the back seat held her neck so hard that she couldn’t even scream: then they asked me to give them my phones ( I left my phones at home I told them) the other guy used his gun to hit my eye( he brought out a small knife, pepperspray, and small axe). He asked for the second time ‘ where is your phone? I see 2 phones for your hand , where them dey?
Then I had no choice than to give him my phones when i saw blood dropping , he started beating us and asked his friend to give him that handkerchief ( but the guy driving said his spirit doesn’t want him to harm us) but he should collect everything from us: so they collected the things we bought @ the shoprite, they took my friend’s phones and mine too, her waist watch, my neckchain, our handbags, asked for our atm cards and tnk God none of us came out with it,they searched us and collected the cash we had on us’ they even collected my friend’s ear rings – then dumped us on a lonely part:
A good samarithan gave us 1500 to transport bk home we told him what happened– I just had to share this so we can be very careful this period:::the mistake we made was : not calling the uber number to confirm if trully he was the person: I just want all of you thank God for me o. What if we were killed ? Just few weeks to my service and this happened? 2 months to the end of 2017? Wetin our mama for do? Please guys, let’s be careful bill!!! thank you and God bless u- ( for now I’d be offline).”

Dr. Alex Ekwueme currently in coma at Enugu hospital after collapsing at home
Dr. Alex Ekwueme has collapsed and is in coma at the Intensive Care Unit of Memfys Hospital for Neurosurgery, by Penok petrol station in Trans-Ekulu, Enugu State as you read this.
The PUNCH learnt on Tuesday night that the second republic Vice-President collapsed around 2am last Saturday, at his residence in Independence Layout, Enugu.
The development comes barely 10 days (October 10) after he celebrated his 85th birthday.
Punchng.com reports:
Family members close to our correspondent said that the former vice-president went into coma soon after he collapsed.
“He was trying to get something from the table when he suddenly collapsed and immediately someone raised the alarm, we proceeded to revive him while cautious enough not to attract neighbours,” a relative, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said.
“When it became obvious that he had lapsed into coma, we rushed him to a hospital (unnamed) in GRA (Government Reserved Area), but we were referred to Memphys Hospital by medical consultants who had critically examined his condition.”
The source said that the family chose to keep the incident secret for a while with the hope that Ekwueme would “miraculously” come out of coma.
“When there was no sign of improvement on Monday afternoon, we rallied round and informed the former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, who is like a son, and he has been making plans to fly him overseas,” the source added.
Medical personnel at Memphys Hospital said that Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State broke down in tears on seeing Ekwueme at the Intensive Care Unit on Tuesday evening.
Although the governor’s visit was enshrouded in secrecy so as not to attract the prying eyes of the media and residents in the state, it was gathered that he could not hide his emotions as he wailed uncontrollably.
“My namesake, Ifeanyichukwu, do not leave us now! Even if you must go, please wait to see your daughter become the deputy governor of Anambra State before you leave us,” Ugwuanyi was reported to have wailed at the ICU.
Dr Alex Ekwueme’s first daughter, Lady Chidi Onyemelukwe, is running mate to Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate for the November 18 poll in Anambra State, Oseloka Obaze.

Man & Woman Who Died In Car In Lagos: I Was The Target – Woman’s Other Lover
The family of Mr. Lukmon Olowu, who was found dead inside his Toyota Corolla car on Sunday, yesterday, said there was no way he could be the lover of the lady found dead with him. Lukmon, 39, married with two kids, was a licensing agent.
According to the family, Lukmon couldn’t have been making love to the woman, identified as Promise, inside his car.
Promise was said to be from Cross River State, while her husband, Clement, a commercial bus driver, is from Edo State.
She had a child for Clement. Lukmon’s family members, who gathered yesterday at their family house at 56, Shonola Street, Ogba, Lagos, said their son was murdered.
Contrarily to earlier stories that Promise and Lukmon lived in the same compound, New Telegraph’s visit yesterday to Ogba proved that Promise lived at 48, Shonola Street, while Lukmon lived at Iju-Ishaga area of Lagos State. Lukmon’s younger brother, Idris Olowu, said Lukmon was not into any relationship with Promise.
Idris said: “ On Saturday evening, Lukmon and about six of his friends, went to a birthday party at Obawole, Iju area. After the party, Lukmon used his car to drive many of his friends to their residences, including Promise.
She also attended the birthday. Promise later called and pleaded with Lukmon to take her to her friend’s place around Excellence Hotel, located at Ogba. We understand that she called her husband, telling him that she would spend the night at her friend’s place, before she called and asked Lukmon to drive her there.
“The next thing we heard was that police called us that our brother was dead, that they had found Promise and Lukmon dead inside his car. We heard they were found Unclad. We all went to the police station to confirm the information.
Before the police drove the car to the station, they took pictures of their dead bodies. We saw a picture of our brother, Unclad and his two legs raised and placed on the dashboard. While the dead woman was half Unclad; she was sitting beside him at the front seat.
Her head rested lifelessly on the car seat headrest. “I can swear with my life, that my brother didn’t have anything to do with Promise. He was a responsible man, married with children. He didn’t take alcohol.
I learnt that woman was dating a guy called Femi, Promise’s husband, Clement, had warned the guy several times to stay away from his wife. Even, when the incident happened, the same Femi came to tell us that the trap was meant for him.” Idris further disclosed that Promise lived close to a beer parlour.
It was alleged that many people knew the late woman. Idris further said: “ She called her husband that night, that she would spend the night at a friend’s place. It was not the first time Lukmon had used his car to convey Promise and other people to different places after parties.
The woman always goes to party with youths living in the area because she was a friendly type.” Idris recalled that when they got to the police station on Sunday, Promise husband, Clement, said that the dead person should have been Femi, not Lukmon.
Idris said: “To my surprise, when we got to Area G Police Command, Promise’s husband said that he thought it was Femi that died. Even Femi’s phone was brought out from Promise’s handbag by her husband.”
When our correspondent visited Promise’s house yesterday evening, some of her neighbours said she had no job, but frequent the beer parlour where she used to drink beer.
One of the residents, who does not want her name mentioned, said: “The death of the woman came to every one of us as a surprise. Promise had a child and had a friend at the beer parlour joint. She used to stay at that club with her friend, drinking, whenever her husband was not around. It was at this club that some men, including the one that died with her, met her.”
The resident further said: “There was a day I warned her to stop going to the beer parlour because I had seen a situation where some of the men that came to the joint, would harass women.
That was why I warned her to stay away from the place to avoid what eventually happened now.” When our correspondent approached Clement, who wore a T-Shirt and brown trousers, he snapped: “ No! No! I can’t talk for now.” He crossed to the other side of the road and disappeared.
People in the area said that the house he entered is his grandmother’s apartment. Attempts to speak with Femi failed too.
When his phone was called, he picked and when our correspondent told him the reason for calling, he cut off and switched off.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olarinde Famous-Cole, said that police were carrying out intensive investigations to know the circumstances surrounding the death of the couple. He added: “ We got to know about this incident barely 24 hours ago. We are still investigating. We have to carry out autopsy to ascertain the cause of their death.”
